How to increase rice health

Increasing rice health by potassium

K fertilizer is widely reported to decrease insect infestation and disease incidence in many host plants. For example, researcher showed that potassium application decreased the infestation of rice by stem borers. Stem borers can destroy rice at any stage of the plant from seedling to maturity. They feed upon tillers and causes deadheart or drying of the central tiller, during vegetative stage; and causes whiteheads at reproductive stage.

Potassium application decreased significantly the stem borer infestation and with that increased yield (Sawar, 2012).
